Bob graduated from Indiana University in 1982 with a Bachelors degree in Accounting.   He spent approximately ten years with KPMG where he served as an audit senior manager.  The first seven years were in the Houston office and the last three years were in the Indianapolis office.  Bob managed engagements in a variety of industries including insurance and healthcare.  In his role at KPMG, Bob also managed financial condition and market conduct examinations of Fortune 100 insurance companies for insurance regulators.  He also served as a Computer Information Specialist and a national instructor.   After KPMG, Bob spent seven years with Conseco, Inc. where he served as an officer in the SEC reporting and financial reporting areas.  After Conseco, Bob spent four years as a CFO and assistant portfolio manager for a local investment management company.

Prior to forming Assurity, Bob served as the Executive Vice President and Managing Director at Noble Consulting Services, Inc. (a nationally recognized regulatory consulting firm) for eleven years.  Bob's leadership was largely responsible for transforming this largely local regulatory consulting firm into a national practice with a full-range of services. While at Noble, Bob developed the Investment and Information Technology specialist programs and rolled out a new Troubled Company program.  He recruited and trained consultants to serve in these programs and oversaw the implementation on a national scale.  He was also responsible for the training and professional development program and served as a frequent speaker on a national level.

Bob coordinated examinations of some of the largest insurers in the nation including: Lincoln Financial Group, Pacific Life Insurance Group, AEGON Group (Transamerica Companies), Genworth and Guardian Life Insurance Company of America among others.  He also oversaw examinations of smaller captives and risk retention groups with the same care and level of service.

Bob's most significant accomplishment is his role as the Chief Operating Officer in the rehabilitation of Standard Life Insurance Company of Indiana, a two-billion dollar annuity writer.  This two-year rehabilitation began during the financial crisis and ended with the successful transition of the book of business into private hands, and the protection of the policyholders and jobs.

OUR COMPANY AT A GLANCE

Assurity is a consulting practice based in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Mr. Robert Panah, CFE, MCM, CISA, FLMI serves as the practice leader and President.  Our key personnel have been serving insurance regulators and in the insurance and financial services industries for decades.

We recognize that traditional regulatory consulting services must evolve to provide deeper insight and stronger analytics  to meet the expectations of today's regulators.  We assembled a team that meets these tougher demands.

Our high touch service and depth of knowledge sets us apart from others on both large and small projects. We measure our success by the amount of repeat business.  Our principals have a strong track record in this area.

We have capacity for both large and small projects based on our network of consultants and strategic industry alliances through which we are able to assemble the best team for each project.  Our largest strategic alliance is with Examination Resources LLC (www.examresources.net), an Atlanta-based national regulatory consulting firm. ER brings a team of over 90 professionals with a wealth of experience and expertise who serve International, Federal and State regulatory customers.  For projects requiring life actuarial support, we partner with Insurance Strategies Consulting LLC (www.insurance-strat.com). Our in house property and casualty actuaries support examinations as well as clients with captives or other self insurance arrangements. Our team of investment and information technology specialists conduct standalone projects as well as projects in connection with regulatory examinations.
